Sister 2 Sister – Nicci Marquart

So yesterday was my first day volunteering, and I freaking loved it. I mean, it was nothing more than a normal workday for most but after all these months in my situation, it was pretty great to be out there.
The people working there, the atmosphere, the colorful office, it was part of why I felt so good. Mostly I think I am happy that when I now finally found a volunteer place, it for a cause close to my heart – young girls.
I did have a fever,my throat hurt every time I swallowed and my neck was in so much pain by the end of the day BUT I powered trough and went enjoyed every minute of it.

This is the vision of Sister 2 Sister:

The SISTER2sister program is a unique year long mentoring & risk management program designed to empower ‘at risk’ teenage girls to turn their troubled lives around. It is an early intervention program that addresses the deeply entrenched intergenerational problems in our disadvantaged youth, and focuses on the core underlying issues, starting with the lack of a stable positive role model.
