Traveling to Bali
I had a rather long break from writing like this – journal, blog or whatever you like to call it. So naturally I have missed telling you guys about so much stuff that has happened.
I wont be able to go back and retell it all. However, some of the more memorable moments I will share. And I will start by the time we went traveling in Bali. Its really incredible, the nature, the food, the spa´s. Traveling to Bali is a must because of so many reasons. I am thinking its best to divide our Bali travel into sections. Otherwise it might be too much for just one entry.
I could just upload a thousands of pictures, call it “traveling to Bali” and let them speak for themselves. But I think its a little more charming to tell a story behind the pictures.
And, its a great way for me to give you guys some recommendations. If you decide you want to be traveling to Bali one day. -
old friend from Bondi visiting
Got an old friend from the Bondi times to come visit me today up the coast. Yesterday I messaged her after many months asking how she was. ( one of my new “things” are that I want to be better at contacting friends) I did not think anything more of it but after my massage ( another of the “things” I want to add into my life) we had suddenly decided to have a day together. This morning I sleep in, walked down to Little Piggy’s” for a coffee and my book until Behnaz arrived around 10:30. I think we sat and talked for over 2 hours. One side of my face is completely sunburned – we should have swapped sides halfway thorough breakfast.
After breakfast we drove to Ettalong Beach, went for a walk and finished of with a watermelon and mint frozen Popsicle ice-creams. That was a necessity in the heath. Might have mentioned it before – I love the Australian winter!
After ice crams we headed to the next beach – Pearl Beach. Its is only a 15 min drive and the drive is pretty beautiful so loved every minute of it. We put on old Persian songs and had a singalongs during our drive.
Nice day with old friends – must do this more often.Back at the house I made myself a late lunch. Garlic prawns and mushrooms at the terrace to watch the last of the sun. Then I made a fire, a cup of tea, and watched an episode of Australian Masterchef. I also put an oil hair-mask in.
This product smells so weird, and Ambros really hates it so I am taking the time while he is away to use this stinky hair product. hahaNow I have folded all the washed clothes, vacuumed and I am going to do a short meditation and then watch some trash TV in my bed. I miss Ambrose a lot and hope he decides to come home earlier. I seriously cannot sleep when he is not lying next to me. Hope that does not happen tonight as well because I don’t want to have to sleep in like this morning!
Cant wait for my morning coffee in the winter sun tomorrow.

interior design magazine
It’s already Tuesday and except working nothing much has been going on over here. That why I think we should go back to the weekend instead. A weekend with open house inspections, forest walking, sleeping in and flipping trough a magazine while having a coffee in the sun. Ahh love the last one the most. Favorite activity, well if you can call sipping coffee an activity. I say yes we can!
I especially like it when it is cold outside and you get a spot right by the window and the sun trough the window warms your body. So you see, this is a hobby of mine hahaThe magazines I am interested nowadays are mostly interior design magazines. All I want to spend my money on are things like a lemon tree, new paint and solar panels for the roof. Just the thought of shopping clothes makes me tired.
At one of the cafe´s we visited there was an interior design magazine that featured 101 tips on how renovation for the home. Super interesting and valuable now that we are buying a house. By the was, what an exciting sentence that is – we are buying a house! -
Baby shower – its a girl
our friends Hannah and Ari are having a baby girl very soon. And of course this was celebrated with a pink feast – a baby shower! I have been to a couple of baby showers now, and I love how well Hannah, Ari and their families pulled it off. There was soo much food – which is always good, balloons and beautiful decorations everywhere. And I really like the present table at a baby shower- always tasteful and well though of wrapping.
I was almost not going to make it. Living up the coast is really not ideal when you want to socialize. I could drive, but then Ambrose would be stuck without a car. The other option was the ferry to Palm beach, a bus to I dont even know where and then a cab to the baby shower. Puh… no thank you.
Luckily my pretty little friend Nikki picked me up and I did not have to miss the baby shower.
What was extra fun for me was that there was a lot of Persians at the shower. Ari is Persian and I got to meet his mother, sisters, aunties and cousins – like always, Persians come in a pack haha.I spoke Farsi ( persian language ) which felt a bit strange. Language tend to wear off a bit when you dont get to practice.
I got to get some children and practice my Farsi on them. I know you cant force it but I will definitely try my best to get bilingual children. English is given from Ambrose, Swedish is given from me, and because my sisters live in Barcelona, we have Spanish. I really have nothing to worry about. My mom and my entire extended family will speak Farsi with our kids. No way they wont get to be bilingual! They will thank me one day…

Relaxing in front of a fireplace with the movie Interstellar
We just finished the movie Interstellar which was surprisingly good. I am having tea after the nice spaghetti bolognese I made for Ambrose and myself. The fireplace is on and massive. We brought in half the forest ( or the whole winter supply of wood that Ambros’s dad had bought hahah)
Everything has been so nice and relaxing since Friday at work.My little Friday breakfast at my desk. I stumbled across Swedish caviar in Harry’s Farm – one of my favorite grocery shop here in Australia. And I bought 4 chicken yellow cups from T2 for our new home we are about to buy. I choose the color because it makes me happy looking at it.
Saturday came and we had breakfast at Tommy’s. It was me, Ambrose, his sister Anastasia and their dad ( in the picture)
The subject was Anastasia’s wedding. We tried settling for the first father-daughter song. And we all laughed so much at the suggestions of songs their dad has chosen. Well he did not thing it was very funny. It was not that bad actually, we just though it was so funny that his choices were so different from what Anastasia had in mind. Then we did something I have wanted to do all week. Ly on the beach. I listen to Dr Joe Dispenza and had an almond coffee. Ambrose was out surfing. Not much surf but still.
After a very short stay at the beach we had a look at a potential apartment we are might buy. Followed by a salad, calamari and nuggets with this perfect view. I have to start eating out here more often.
Changed that view to this view a couple of hours later. Love watching fire. If we buy a house instead of an apartment, it must have a fireplace. And before I go curl myself into Ambrose’s arms – watch the movie Interstellar!

massage injury and movie night in balmain
This long weekend turned out to be filled with alot. From one minute I was in heaven with a much needed massage. The next minute in hell of a pain after a man crashed his ladder right into my shin. And everything i between in seems.
It all started Sunday morning. We woke up around 9 am, Ambrose was going to have a boys night at Ari’s house. I was going to Kimberly’s house and stay over. I gave Ambrose a lift, and drove to Balmain to pick up Kimberly. We had an massage appointment in the city. One relaxing hour, it was so good, exactly what my body needed. We walk out of the massage and I walk over to a couple of Asian fast food restaurants. I stood next to one man on a ladder fixing the restaurant sign and suddenly his ladder snaps and I get the ladder with the man on if right on my right shin. I fell on the ground in agony, everyone ran over, trying to see if its broken and luckily it was not.I sat around 20 minutes with ice on it, the family who owned the restaurant put a yellow home-made remedy ornament on where the injury was and it actually helped!
After all the drama we went for lunch, a little bit of shopping and then instead of going to the cinema as we planned we decided to get a lot of snacks, cheese, wine and have a movie night at Kim’s house in Balmain instead. It was pouring down rain so a movie night was perfect. This is Kim and her fluffy bunny “Moo” by the way.
Next morning. God I love mornings! The sun was out, it was Monday but bank holiday so everyone was out having breakfast and enjoying the sun. Here we are at my favorite place in Balmain. It is owned by an Italian family, the mother is from Napoli and the dad from Sicily. Such charming atmosphere, you can’t fake atmosphere.
And that was it from my long weekend. After a long breakfast and strolling in the area with Kimberly I went back to pack up. Love staying at Kimberly and Jackson. You get your own bedroom and bathroom which I really enjoy haha.
Ambrose got a lift back to us with Mike, we all went over to see Mike and Lucinda’s new house. It’s about 5 minutes drive from Kim’s place.
Now we are back at the house. I had a long shower, went grocery shopping, made dinner, vacuumed and washed all the clothes. Ambrose – he has been sleeping since we got here at 4pm! I think I am going to let him sleep for the night and I will lie next to him listen to Bryan Tracy. Google him, interesting man._______________________________________________________________

winter walks on seashells over the long weekend
Just got back to the house. The plan for the afternoon was to go ice skating with Ambrose siblings but everyone pulled out so we are going to lie in bed, watch Sense 8 and just to nothing tonight. Its cold and raining outside so putting on the fire and make a nice dinner in thick socks sounds just amazing to me. Happy to just do nothing tonight.
Earlier today we had much more going on. Started our day with an hour class of Body Pump. I even got Ambrose to go to this class with me, and I am pretty sure he liked it because you really feel you properly worked out after that class.
We both love that.
After a quick shower we drove to play with Xavier and Archer. Well, as much as you really can play with a 8 week old baby!
We only stayed for an hour or so, super hungry after our intense Body Pump class so we drove off to Ambrose other brother Leonard for breakfast. The discussion during breakfast was all about buying a home. We are literally at that stage now in our lives which is amazing and exciting.
The home buying talk continued with the dogs at the beach. We drove down to Lakes beach and had a winter walk on seashells. So far a very good long weekend. I can already feel my batteries being recharged just after this Saturday.

Indian food in a new neighborhood
Friday and I was totally ready to finish work and start the weekend. I left later than I wanted to and was secretly wishing I was living in our old neighborhood haha. Could not be bothered with the public transport. So when Ambros asked if I wanted to come by his work and drive back to the house together I said yes straight away.
Where he works there is a Myer that sells my skincare products – The Ordinary. I think I have praised them before HERE
They are so hard to get so I bought alot of them because in the Myer around our neighborhood dont sell them. After Ambros etook me out for dinner to celebrate my new job offer. So cute. I chose Indian food, have not had Indian food for maybe a year. There is a neighborhood in Sydney where Indian food is everywhere. Its called Harry’s Park and it felt like being in India. Not that I have been, but you know what I mean.We ordered Dhal as starters, or whatever that crispy Indian bread is called. Then as mains we had lamb korma and mango butter chicken. And of course garlic nan. Oh how I wish I had some leftovers right now. If was a good and authentic Indian restaurant. You could just feel it walking in there. It was called Ginger if anyone wants to try. I can recommend it. That takes us to today, Saturday. This day stared with sleep in until 8am, breakfast at Little Piggy down the road. Then getting the car washed, house inspections, more coffee breaks, testing new cars – Ambrose is nowadays obsessed with Nissan Patrol. It is a nice car, but it feels like being inside somebody’s house, its gigantic !
Then it was the obligatory surf watch. As you can see, today is not the warmest days here in Australia…Now we had a quick lunch with some chill in bed. Have to start getting ready for the three events for tonight Puh!
First – our friends Tim and Rachel are getting married in Mexico soon and they are having a pre wedding tonight.
Second event is a Ball my charity work is hosting. Its massive, over 500 giests, celebreay appearance and all that. Cant waith actually. The theam is Mad Hatters Ball so its going to be pretty exciteing. We have been working on this for months!
And lastly, if we can make it we have drinks and watching Vivid with friends in the city.Okey, I better start getting ready!
If I remember to take any, I can imaging tomorrows pictures in this blog are going to be pretty amazing.Otherwise watch videos on Instagram: nicci.marquart
