Our first weekend as a “normal” couple. Very happy and very exhausted

I have been away. away for a very long time now. And I know that the proper thing to do is to apologize, like I have so many times before in here. But you know what. This time I really needed some time to sort out our Australian Partner Visa once and for all ! And I did ! Our Australian Partner Visa got granted ! So many exclamation points !!!!

But they are all valid, because I cant even begin to explain how exhilarating and relieving we felt when Maja, our case officer email me and said that she had now granted our Partner Visa.

I emailed her to let her know that this was probobly one of the best emails Ambrose and I received. Ever. She did not reply back hahaha. But who cares. I am no longer a mail-order bride ( Ambrose stupid joke) I am now a resident of Australia.

And that is pretty cool.

2 long and exhausting years are now just a memory. Maybe I am being a bit cocky now but I don’t think many couples could make it going true this whole partner Visa process. All I know is that Ambrose and our relationship is totally worth it and I have never been more in love in “us” as a couple before.

March 8th, 2018. That is the day Australian Immigration granted our partner visa. I was sitting at a cafe´in Barcelona with my sister. It was raining. I will never forget that day.

What a day! Well at least the fist half of it which was easily the most frustrating time of this month.Maybe this whole year (only 2 months so far but still…)

Since we have got no answers from neither the Australian Immigration department, the government or anyone else we reached out to, I decided to once again visit the Spanish Consulate here in Sydney. I arrived 8:45 am, they opened 9 am. Aaaannndddd I was there dealing with them over ONE piece of document until 11:30.

It is, by far the most disorganization and weird organization I’ve ever visited! I somehow got an appointment for 14th of March. This means that I might not have to travel all the way back to Spain to pick up my Spanish Police clearance.

This is the only document left for us to hand in before we receive our de facto visa.

Here is how to get a police record from Spain with the help of a power of attorney :

– Find someone you trust to be your “Power of Attorney” in Spain.

– Send an email to the Spanish Consulate with these details: Full name. Date of Birth. Passport number and expiry date. NIE number. Address. This goes for both you and the person you assigned as your “Power of Attorney” in Spain.

– Send all this to the Spanish consulate, don’t forget to attach a PDF of your passport. On their website there is a form to fill in and attach as well. In your email, ask for an appointment.

– Bring your passport to this appointment at the Spanish Consulate, you and someone there will need to sign a document  that proves you have now given the right to your “Power of attorney” in to collect your needed document (police clearance in my case) in Spain.

– Send this document to your assigned attorney who will then need to bring identification together with your signed document to Ministero de Justica and will be able to collect what you need.

Thursday evening and it feels like its been one of those very very long weeks. I am actually ready to have the weekend so we can sleep in a little bit. Well, sleeping in for us usually means until 8am, but still better that these 5 and 6 am that we have had.

It has been alot to do this week and on top of everything else, our Partner Visa is about to be finalized. Only last tiny bit left – A Police clearance from Spain. I have not lived in Spain for many years but one of the requirements is that you need to show police clearance from all the countries you lived in for the past 10 years.

The only issue is that I have a Swedish nationality and I live in Australia. And to get a police clearance from Spain, if you are not a Spanish means well, basically they told me to fly 30 hours to Spain to get a piece of paper and come back.

If any of you wonders how my feelings are about the whole Partner Visa process? Its something like …ZZZZzzzzzzzzz
2 years have past !! Hours of putting together documents. Even more hours proving we are a couple. Thousands and thousands of dollars have been spent. And it all comes down to ONE tiny document. Which just happens to be across the planet.

I know I know, It sound like I am complaining. Actually I am relived and grateful that its only one tiny piece of document left. Like everything else in life, it depends on how you look at the situation. Now, red wine and take away dinner out on the terrace. xx

This was us a coupe of hours ago. Having a couple of kebab’s at the beachfront. The picture makes me laugh so much, I wanted to take a picture because I thought it was cute that it said “Hers” and “His”. But as was taking the picture a guy walked past and smiled at us. You know one of those smiles that says “ oh those poor losers, they are so happy over their sad little kebab’s that they feel the need to take a picture of it and post it to the world to see”

hahahahha I could just tell from his eyes and his weird smile at us that this was EXACTLY what he was thinking.

One amazing thing happened to me today. Cannot really talk about it yet, but very soon. Or wait… two amazing things happened, Our Visa contact ( or whatever you call them) sent us an email saying that everything we have sent in so far has been approved, we just need the police clearance from Spain. That is something I will finish tomorrow with the Spanish consulate here in Sydney, sent it to Maya ( our Visa contact) aaaannndddd I believe I am in!  My heart just starts pounding thinking about our Visa being finalized.

The other great thing that happened is that today Ambrose sisters Anastasia’s partner Adam proposed to her! can’t wait for another wedding!
